Examining Codes of Ethics

NAEYC Code of Ethical, Ideals I-1.3 To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.

Based on the "Childhood is a unique and valuable stage in the human life cycle", as well as we are a human being, childhood is the early stage of ourselves, we shall respect each child as respect our selves. I had seen a note "if you give a mouse a cookie, ..." on the wall of the hallway in a childcare center. It remindered me whenever I heard a teacher spoke to children "if you are not sitting nicely, you will not get lunch", "if you are not go sleep, you will not go to xxx's birthday party". "if you are not..., you will not go ..." That in what way and how to approach and teach children is kind of critical. This ideal gives us the guide line that we shall find a unique way to approach the needs of the children's development as our selves are human, what way we want to be teached, how would we be teached?.  do we want to be disciplined the way "if you are not.. you will not get..."? I beliefe the recongnizing and respecting will be the way.
NAEYC Code of Ethical, Ideals I-2.2 To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.

Based on the "families are of primary important in children's development", as well as we know that each family has own belief, values, culture, and interesting. Building a positive relationship with family is most help way to approach a child's unique ability and potential for the child's develope. This idea is most important as well as most help way for me to work and help children daily. I have experienced that when parents trust me children most likely listen to me.

DEC Code of Ethics, Professial and Interpersonal Behavior #1 We shall demonstrate in our behavior and language respect and appreciation for the unique value and human potential of each child.

This ideal is important to me as I am working directly with children daily. What we say and what we interact with other are the example of what we believe,  value, and interesting. Children are going to learn from the word we said and behavior we presented. I have heard a child keeping repeat the words that her parents and teachers said to her.
